How do I open a TradeFreedom account?
Opening a TradeFreedom account is very easy. Visit the Open Account section of our web site, and choose the option of either downloading our account opening documents to print and fill out, or request to have us mail them out to you.
What are your account opening balance minimums?
Account balance minimums are dependant on your account type and which products you trade. Please refer here for details. In general, our opening account balance minimum for an Equity Cash Account is CAD 1,000, CAD 3,000 for an Equity Margin Account and as low as 1,000 for a Forex account.
How long does it take to open a TradeFreedom account?
After we receive your account opening documents, we will email you a confirmation and will begin to process it immediately. On average, your account will be opened within 24-48 hours.
How do I start Trading?
Once you have funded your account, we will order your requested quote feed package. On average, it takes up to 48 hours for us to receive your license. Once received, we will email you with your quote feed login ID and password and you are ready to trade.
In which provinces do you provide service?
Currently, only residents of Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island can open an account with TradeFreedom. For those living in other provinces, please complete an Update
Request and we will inform you when service will be available in your province.
Can I take a Free trial before opening and/or funding an account?
Yes, absolutely. The aim of our free trial is to provide you the ability to test drive our service and get to know how we respond to your needs, before having to make the commitment of opening or funding an account with us.
What type of accounts can I open with TradeFreedom?
Individual, Joint, Corporate, Investment Club, Trust, Estate - including:
Cash CAD & USD
Margin CAD & USD
Short CAD & USD
Options USD only
Registered (RRSP, RRIF, LIRA, LIF, RESP)
How many accounts can I open?
Each login ID can hold up to 10 accounts.
Can my spouse trade my account?
Yes. You can give power of attorney or trading authority to anyone, which provides them the ability to trade and/or transfer funds from your account. Please complete relevent sections of your Account Opening documents.
