Yes. TradeFreedom is a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF). A brochure describing the nature and limits of coverage is available upon request.
What are your margin rates?
LONG
Canadian Securities, eligible for reduced margin, and US Equities
>$2.00 with listed options require 30% margin.
>$2.00, not eligible for reduced margin, require 50% margin.
$1.75 to $1.99 require 60% margin.
$1.50 to $1.74 require 80% margin.
Note: For accounts less than $3,000, Buying Power will be limited to 2X Margin Excess. Accounts greater than $3,000 will have full Buying Power.
SHORT
CDN Stocks, eligible for reduced margin, require 130% margin
US Stocks >$2.00 with listed options require 130% margin.
CDN & US Stocks equal to $2.00 or greater, not eligible for reduced margin, require 150% margin.
Stocks $1.50 to $1.99 require $3.00 per share.
Stocks $0.25 to $1.50 require 200% margin.
OPTIONS
Options require 100% margin.
FOREX
Trade Spot Forex on margin and leverage your investments for greater market effect. Our margin rates are some of the lowest available - your investment collateral can be used to command Forex positions, gearing your investment up to 50 times.
MARGIN POLICY
Accounts must be fully margined at all times.
Margin calls must be met within 2 business days.
Under margin accounts may not trade except for liquidating transactions.
Margin requirements may be increased to 75% or 100% on certain securities, without prior notice, due to increased price volatility.
What interest do you provide for account debits and credits?
Interest is calculated daily and credited/debited on a monthly basis. For details, please click here for our current interest rate grid 
Are there any interest charges if I borrow intra-day and then flatten my position by day's end?
No. We do not charge intra-day interest.
How do I see my account information?
You can see your account information dynamically updated from a position box found on your trading platform. In addition, you can access your account information by logging in to TradeFreedom, which includes your balances, buying power, positions, trade history and more. This information will reflect your account at the close of trading of the previous trading day.
How will I receive confirmations of my daily trading transactions?
The confirmations are sent to you electronically by email the day after the transaction was executed. You can also access your daily confirmations by logging in to TradeFreedom where you can opt to either to print a copy at your leisure, save as a file in your computer or simply review whenever you have the time.
When do I receive my statements for tax purposes?
A trade report for all year closing trades are provided at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
Are there any fees charged for Foreign Currency Transactions?
If you would like to convert your funds from one currency to another, or if you wish to trade a security and settle that trade in an account which is denominated in a currency other then that of your trade, TradeFreedom will be required to convert your funds. For these foreign currency transactions, TradeFreedom acts as principal with you, and may earn revenue on these transactions.
