New investment opportunities in the energy markets are offered by e-miNY energy futures, fractional versions of the Exchange's highly liquid crude oil and natural gas futures contracts. The contracts are 50% of the size of the standard-sized contracts and are financially settled at the settlement price of the world's two most actively traded physical commodity futures contracts.

Energy is a global market, and political or economic events in any part of the world can affect market fundamentals elsewhere at any time. The volatility of the energy markets can be as much as twice as high as the Standard & Poor's 500 index, and are considerably higher than either the Eurodollar and relatively stable U.S. Treasury bond markets:
